Can I enter on the day?

Event entries will close at 5pm the day before the event.

Can I enter multiple people during the registration process?

Yes, when you arrive at the cart contents page of the registration process, click “Register Another”. You can now commence the registration for additional entrant(s). Please note that all registrations will be paid for in one transaction.

Can I change my Start Group?

Please select your Start Group carefully, as once registration is complete, the relevant colour, number and Start Group cannot be changed. Please also note Start Group capacities are subject to availability, and may sell out.

For Sun Run, entrants you are able to start behind your registered Start Group but not before. Therefore, if your friends or family are starting in a group after yours you can drop back on the day and run with them, likewise if they are in a Start Group ahead of you they can drop back. Please note starting before your allocated start time will result in a disqualification due to front Start Group safety capacities.

10km 6:45AM Seeded – For runners who aim to gain a place in the top 10 – 20. Pre-Qualification is required for this Start Group. No pushed wheelchairs or strollers are permitted in this group.
Purple Start – For runners who aim to complete the course in sub 60 minutes. No Pre-Qualification is required for this Start Group. No pushed wheelchairs or strollers are permitted in this group.
Pink Start –  Joggers, walkers and pushers this is the start group for you.
Aquathon 7:20AM Aquathon  (Blue) Start – There is one Start Wave for all Aquathon participants.
7km 7:25AM Red Start – For runners who aim to complete the course in sub 45 minutes.
Yellow Start – For joggers, walkers, fun groups and pushed wheelchairs and strollers.

No pets, bicycles, scooters, hand cycles, skateboards or roller blades are permitted in any group. Those pushing someone in a wheelchair or stroller are asked to start from the back of the pack.

*The 7km course in an approximate measurement only, the 10km course is measured in accordance with IAAF-AIMS guidelines.

What is the Aquathon?

The Aquathon is a Run-Swim-Run event. Participants take off from Dee Why beach following the 7km course and running approximately 3.5km. When they reach Freshwater Beach they complete a 500m out and back swim around two buoys before finishing another 3.5km run to Manly Beach. Total distance is a 7km run and a 500m swim.

Do I qualify for a Pre-Qualifying Start Group?

Pre-Qualifying is only open for the Seeded start group. If you aim to finish the race in sub 37 min (males) and sub 43 (female) please fill in the below form prior to entering. We accept times from any official races, anywhere in the world, within the last 2 years that are 10km or over in distance.

If you have not competed in an official race in the past 2 years, please fill out the Pre-Qualification Form with your Garmin, Strava, or MapMyRun results web link. We accept times from these resources anywhere in the world, within the past 6 months that are 10km or more in distance. Please ensure your account is set to public for us to be able to see and assess your Pre-Qualification request.

We ask that you allow 2 business day for your request to be processed. Please do not enter until you have received confirmation of your qualification outcome as Start Groups are unable to be changed post registration.

*Aquathon entrants must be 9 years or older on race day. Entries into the Aquathon are strictly limited and only available until sold out.

All entry fees are plus booking fee.

Postage and Race Pack Collection

Is there postage available?

Postage is available as an optional extra for Sun Run participants ONLY to select during their registration at a cost of $7.95 including GST. Please note, this option is available for participants who registered on or before midnight on Tuesday January 7, 2020. Participants who registered on or after Wednesday January 8 will need to collect their race bib from Race Pack Collection.

If you have registered with an overseas address you will need to collect your race bib from the Race Pack Collection. To check if you have selected postage, please visit your Dashboard. Postage of race bibs will commence approximately 2-3 weeks prior to race day.

What’s in my race pack?

For Sun Run, your Race Pack will contain your race bib with a disposable timing tag attached. Please ensure you have this pinned to the front of your shirt prior to starting the run on Saturday.

Aquathon participants will receive a runners bib, coloured swim cap, timing tag with velcro strap and a water safety wristband.

How do I collect my Race Pack?

Postage is available as an optional extra for Sun Run participants to select during their registration at a cost of $7.95 including GST. If you did not select postage or are entered into the Aquathon, you are required to collect your race pack from Race Pack Collection. Please be sure to bring a copy of your eTicket to make the process as quick as possible.

If you are for any reason unable to attend, a friend or family member can collect your race pack on your behalf as long as they bring a copy of your e-ticket.

For those who enter in multiple events you will need to collect one race pack for every event you have entered.

Where is Race Pack Collection? (Sun Run Only)

Please note the below information refers to Sun Run Only. Cole Classic Race Packs can only be picked up on the day of the event.

How do I enter a team?

If your workplace, friends or family have registered a team for the 2020 event, you can join their team when registering. Once you have started your registration, click ‘Join a Team’ on the pop-up box and search for your team name.

If you have already registered and wish to join a team, please email us at (Sun Run) and include your full name, bib number, team name and team password (if applicable) in your email.

How do I create a team?

Creating a team is a great way to bring together family, friends or colleagues as part of your participation in the 2020 Sun Run & Cole Classic. To create a team, visit our registration form and;

  1. Select your preferred registration type
  2. Click ‘Create a Team’ on the pop-up box
  3. Fill out your teams details and click ‘Create my Team’

From here, you will be taken to the team managers Dashboard where it will then direct you to register yourself for the event (if you wish to participate). The Dashboard is also where you can manage your team details.

Share your team name, and password if applicable, with your team members so they can select to ‘Join a Team’ when registering.

General Event Information

What do I do if I have lost my entry confirmation?

If you have deleted your confirmation, please log in to your participant Dashboard to retrieve a copy. If your bank account has not been charged, you are not entered into the event.

What happens if I have lost my race bib?

If you have lost or damaged your race bib or timing chip you can purchase a replacement from the Race Pack Collection (Thursday Jan 30 & Friday Jan 31) or at Race HQ (Saturday Feb 1 & Sunday Feb 2) for a fee of $20.

What happens if I start in the wrong group?

Your race number, including your timing tag, is assigned to a particular Start Group as selected during registration. Your bib tag will be activated as you cross the starting mats. If you begin the race prior to your designated Start Group time, you will NOT receive an official time and you will be disqualified.

Are there prizes on offer?

All participants will receive a finisher’s medal and downloadable finisher’s certificate. Prizes are awarded for place-getters in the 2020 Sun Run & Cole Classic.

What should I do with my Timing Tag and cap?

For participants in the Cole Classic and Aquathon, caps can be kept but Timing Tags must be returned after the race. There will be people at the finish line to help you take off your tag. If you do not race or take it home, please post it back to the address below. Any lost or misplaced tags will incur a replacement fee of $50.

For participants in the Sun Run, the Timing Tag on your race bib is disposable and so may be kept or disposed of after the race.

Where can I purchase an iTaB or Event Day SMS?

The iTaB finisher’s medal insert allows you to create a lasting memento of the race for only $15. The iTaB is a customised, engraved insert which fits perfectly into the back of your finisher’s medal. Your iTaB will be manufactured after the event and sent to you in the post. Worldwide postage is included in the price.

You can also receive your results shortly after crossing the finish line with an SMS sent directly to your mobile phone.

Simply log into your Dashboard, select ‘My Registrations’ and ‘Make Changes’ to add extra items.

Can I leave my gear anywhere?

There will be a Gear Drop service available. Gear Drop at Sun Run and Aquathon will be transported from Dee Why to Manly.

How does Gear Drop work?

You will be given a see-through bag at the Gear Drop area. Write your race number on the outside of the bag with the markers provided. Individual items only may be placed within the bag, such as a change of clothes, light weight jacket, water bottle and post-race snacks. Show your bib when leaving your bag with the gear drop volunteers. After your run/swim you will be asked again to show your bib to collect your bag. No personal bags of any description (backpacks, purses, handbags) will be accepted. Do not leave any valuables such as wallets, keys or phones. The Event will take care of your belongings, but no responsibility will be taken for valuables or clothing that are lost or damaged.

Refunds and Terms and Conditions

Can I refund my entry?

When entering the Sun Run & Cole Classic the terms and conditions must be accepted by each individual entrant. The refund policy for 2020 is listed below. There are no exceptions to this rule and no refunds will be given for change of mind or situation.

I acknowledge that refunds will only be issued for the Event entry fee where participation in the Event is not appropriate due to medical reasons that is supported by a current medical certificate outlining the condition and lodged with Council before 5:00pm (AEST) on Thursday January 2, 2020. I understand that a 50% administration fee will be deducted from the race entry fee paid and if a race bib has been sent out, I must return the race bib to Council at my own expense, prior to the processing of any refund and by no later than 5:00pm (AEST) on Thursday January 2, 2020.  Refunds will not be made for any additional items purchased, such as event merchandise and charitable donations.

What happens if the race is cancelled?

The race organisers reserve the right to cancel the race due to rough or dangerous conditions. In the event of cancellation, there will be no refund of entry fee. An alternate date may be looked at to stage the event. A decision will be made ASAP on race day and broadcast via this website and social media.
